Senior year was filled with so many incredible memories, but one of the most unforgettable was my trip to New York City. It was a five-day adventure that I got to experience with some of my closest friends, making every moment even more special. As someone who’s always harbored a little (okay, maybe a lot) of theater kid energy, finally seeing the “city of dreams” in person felt surreal. The energy of the city was electric, and I couldn’t help but feel like I was stepping into the set of a Broadway production every time we turned a corner.
We packed so much into those days that I’m still amazed at how much we saw and did. One of the highlights was visiting the Summit—a breathtaking observation deck with the most incredible views of the city. Standing there, with Manhattan sprawled out before me, it hit me how massive and vibrant the city really is. Central Park was another standout moment. Wandering through the park, surrounded by both nature and towering skyscrapers, felt like stepping into a movie. I’ll admit, I even tried to imagine what it’d be like to be in a dramatic New York love story, complete with a meet-cute on one of the iconic bridges.
Riding the subway was its own adventure. It was chaotic and fast-paced, but it gave us a real sense of city life. There’s something thrilling about rushing to catch a train or seeing performers in the stations. I also fell in love with Wonderland Dreams, an interactive art showcase we visited. It was like stepping into a whimsical storybook, with colorful, larger-than-life displays that brought out the dreamer in me. Walking through it felt like being part of a fantasy, and I couldn’t stop snapping photos.
Of course, we couldn’t miss Grand Central Station—it was just as stunning as I imagined. The architecture, the hustle and bustle, and that famous celestial ceiling were mesmerizing. It really felt like the heartbeat of the city. Everywhere we went, there was something new to take in, whether it was the street performers, the food vendors, or just the general buzz of life happening all around us.
Looking back, that trip was more than just a getaway. It was a taste of independence and a chance to bond with friends while exploring a city that felt alive in every way. It solidified my love for adventure and made me realize that one day, I want to come back—not just as a visitor, but to truly experience life there. For now, though, the memories are more than enough to keep me smiling.
